flaixback madrid

hi guys, PP is back in madrid! it is SO nice to be in a place where i can actually communicate with people (beyond "bienvenue, enchante"), but so sad/nostalgic at the same time. where is JFTB and the beast? and robert peer-pressuring me to go out at 2 am and ramon asking where he can buy some toner? too bizarre.

here's what i've been up to the last few days:

krystal and i spent our last night in bcn with our two favorite peeps, david and chris.

we were the only ones in a very cute spanish restaurant in their neighborhood.

the next morning, i had a panic attack for no apparent reason and decided i needed to sprint to the metro stop and then to the train station to catch my train to madrid. i was 40 minutes early.

when i got to madrid, i cooled off in a bar with some of ed's friends -- amy, tim and bruna. i think i was laughing so hard because bruna would not stop licking my face. except when the picture was taken.

the next day, i hit the town. first stop, goya. obviously, not at 5.

on the way, i spotted jean-on-jean sighting number 1. apparently this is fashionable both in the winter and in the summer.

i saw this shirt and thought about getting it for mama. it says "nice toile!" mama is a toile supporter.

if only this could fit in my backpack.

i asked some guy to take a picture of me on this pretty street. it turned out he was a paparazzo-in-training since he took 4 pictures of me from different angles. i thought this one was the best.

in front of one of my favorite places in madrid -- the royal palace.

this woman was really digging the sun.

oh madrid you are so tres tres jolie.

retiro in the summer is much better than retiro in the winter.

this is for krystal -- i cracked up when i saw this woman was reading harry potter.

and then i went by cis. it looks like an actual school now! note: no longer the "center" for international studies, now the "college" for international studies. we're moving up in the world!

where we bamboozled many of our professors to skip class and instead have a "cultural immersion" chatting over coffee. in english.

inside vips. even after 5 years spain still hasn't gotten its act together and provided non-graph-paper paper.

at a party in ed's friend's artsy loft.

me and my new german friend dita. he told me about all the hot spots in berlin and munich. get ready wingzi!

muah. miss you guys.

Why does the welcome mat say "40 Febrero 2025"? Since when does Febrero have 40 days? Why 2025? Is it saying that we will say hello sixteen and a half years from now on a non-existent day? That's kind of depressing. Truly Spain is a mysterious land...
